Ghana’s Data Protection Commission states that direct marketing requires prior written consent, and that individuals can later require the controller to stop processing their information for direct marketing. Its compliance guidance also specifically checks whether organisations obtain consent before adding people to electronic marketing lists and provide an opt-out method. (Data Protection Commission)
The policy below is written around those requirements and the Africa.Luxury Newsroom subscription model.
NEWSLETTER & EMAIL SUBSCRIPTION POLICY
Africa.Luxury Newsroom
Effective Date: 13 August 2026
Last Updated: 13 August 2026
Africa.Luxury Newsroom provides readers with travel news, destination information, accommodation features, tourism updates, travel guides, experiences, transportation information, offers, promotions, company news, and other travel and lifestyle content through our website and email communications.
This Newsletter & Email Subscription Policy explains how subscriptions to Africa.Luxury Newsroom communications work, what subscribers may receive, how we obtain and manage consent, how subscriber information is used, how subscribers may change their preferences or unsubscribe, and the standards we apply to responsible email communication.
This Policy should be read together with the Africa.Luxury Newsroom Privacy Policy, Terms of Use, Cookie Policy, and any other policies or specific terms that may apply to a particular promotion or service.

PART I — PURPOSE AND SCOPE
1. PURPOSE OF THIS POLICY
The purpose of this Policy is to ensure that Africa.Luxury manages its newsletter and email subscription programme transparently, responsibly, securely, and in a manner that respects the choices and privacy of subscribers.
This Policy describes:
- how people subscribe;
- what subscribing means;
- what information we collect;
- what types of emails we may send;
- how consent is recorded;
- how frequently we may communicate;
- how subscribers can unsubscribe;
- how subscriber information is protected;
- how email engagement information may be used;
- how we manage incorrect, bounced, or inactive email addresses;

- update or manage their newsletter preferences;
- receive Africa.Luxury Newsroom newsletters as an existing subscriber; or
- interact with links contained in our Newsroom emails.
This Policy applies whether a subscriber accesses the Newsroom from Ghana or another country.
3. VOLUNTARY SUBSCRIPTION
Subscribing to the Africa.Luxury Newsroom is voluntary.
A person is not required to subscribe in order to read publicly available Newsroom articles unless a particular feature is expressly made available only to subscribers.
A person’s decision not to subscribe will not ordinarily prevent that person from browsing publicly accessible Newsroom content.
Where an Africa.Luxury service requires a person’s email address for a separate operational reason, such as responding to a booking enquiry, that does not automatically mean that the person has subscribed to the Newsroom newsletter.
PART II — WHAT SUBSCRIBERS MAY RECEIVE
4. TYPES OF EMAIL COMMUNICATIONS
Subscribers may receive communications relating to:

- other content reasonably related to travel, hospitality, tourism, lifestyle, and Africa.Luxury.
5. EDITORIAL AND COMMERCIAL CONTENT
Africa.Luxury Newsroom emails may contain both editorial and commercial material.
Editorial material may include:
- news;
- destination features;
- travel guides;
- informational articles;
- interviews;
- opinion pieces;
- tourism developments; and
- travel recommendations.
Commercial material may include:
- promotional banners;
- sponsored content;

Where appropriate, sponsored or promotional content may be identified as such.
6. AFRICA.LUXURY SERVICE PROMOTIONS
By subscribing to communications that expressly include Africa.Luxury offers and marketing, subscribers may receive information about Africa.Luxury services including:
- stays;
- apartments;
- holiday accommodation;
- car rentals;
- airport transfers;
- tours;
- experiences;
- events;
- packages;
- destination services; and
- related hospitality and tourism services.
The inclusion of an offer in an email does not guarantee availability.
Specific booking conditions, prices, availability, cancellation policies, eligibility conditions, and promotional terms may apply to individual services.
PART III — SUBSCRIPTION AND CONSENT
7. HOW A PERSON SUBSCRIBES
A person may subscribe by providing requested information through an authorised Africa.Luxury subscription mechanism.
This may include:
- an email subscription form on the Newsroom;
- a subscription box within an article;
- a website pop-up;
- a footer subscription form;
- a dedicated subscription page;
- an Africa.Luxury campaign page; or
- another authorised opt-in mechanism operated by Africa.Luxury.
8. CONSENT
Africa.Luxury aims to send direct marketing communications only where an appropriate basis for doing so exists.
Where consent is required, we will seek consent before adding an individual to an applicable marketing mailing list.
A subscriber’s consent should represent a genuine decision to receive the relevant communications.
The Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843) recognises a person’s right to prevent the processing of personal information for direct marketing and provides for prior consent in connection with direct marketing. Africa.Luxury therefore seeks to operate its subscription system consistently with those principles.
9. WHAT SUBSCRIPTION CONSENT MEANS
Where a person voluntarily enters an email address into a Newsroom subscription form and takes the required action to subscribe, the subscriber is requesting the communications described at or in connection with that subscription form.
Depending on the form used, this may include consent to receive:
- Newsroom updates;
- newsletters;
- new article notifications;
- travel information;
- Africa.Luxury promotions; and
- other communications described at the time of subscription.
Africa.Luxury will not interpret subscription to one clearly separate service as unlimited consent to every possible unrelated form of marketing.
10. RECORD OF CONSENT
To administer subscriptions and demonstrate how a subscriber joined a mailing list, Africa.Luxury may maintain records such as:
- subscriber email address;
- subscriber name, where supplied;
- date of subscription;
- time of subscription;
- subscription source;
- form or page used;
- subscription status;
- consent status;
- preference selections;
- confirmation status;
- unsubscribe date;
- relevant technical records; and
- other information reasonably necessary to manage the subscription.
These records may be maintained even where a person later unsubscribes, to the extent reasonably necessary to demonstrate and honour the person’s communication preferences.
11. CONFIRMATION OF SUBSCRIPTION
Africa.Luxury may send a confirmation or welcome email after a subscription is submitted.
Where we implement a double opt-in process, a person may be required to confirm the subscription by following a link or other verification mechanism before regular newsletters begin.
A double opt-in process may be used to:
- verify ownership of an email address;
- reduce false subscriptions;
- prevent another person from subscribing an address without permission;
- improve list quality; and
- reduce spam complaints.
Africa.Luxury may use either single opt-in or double opt-in mechanisms where appropriate and lawful.
12. DO NOT SUBSCRIBE OTHER PEOPLE WITHOUT PERMISSION
You must not knowingly subscribe another person’s email address without that person’s permission.
You must not use the subscription system to:
- harass another person;
- submit fake email addresses;
- register people without authority;
- create automated subscriptions;
- send malicious subscription requests; or
- interfere with the operation of our mailing systems.
Africa.Luxury may remove or block subscriptions that appear to be fraudulent or abusive.
PART IV — INFORMATION WE COLLECT
13. BASIC SUBSCRIBER INFORMATION
Depending on the subscription form, we may collect:
- email address;
- first name;
- surname;
- country;
- preferred destination interests;
- travel interests;
- communication preferences; and
- other information voluntarily provided.
An email address will generally be necessary in order to send email communications.
14. INFORMATION ABOUT THE SUBSCRIPTION
We may also record:
- date and time of subscription;
- website page on which subscription occurred;
- campaign associated with the subscription;
- subscriber status;
- confirmation status;
- unsubscribe status;
- consent information; and
- mailing preferences.
15. TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Our systems may automatically process limited technical information associated with subscription activity.
This may include:
- IP address;
- browser information;
- device information;
- approximate geographical region;
- timestamp;
- referring page;
- security logs; and
- anti-spam information.
Such information may be used for security, fraud prevention, troubleshooting, consent records, and protection of our subscription systems.
PART V — EMAIL ENGAGEMENT DATA
16. EMAIL DELIVERY INFORMATION
Our email systems may record whether an email:
- was queued;
- was sent;
- was delivered;
- was rejected;
- bounced;
- was delayed;
- encountered a technical error; or
- triggered a spam-related response.
We may use this information to maintain the reliability and reputation of our email systems.
17. EMAIL OPEN INFORMATION
Where technically supported and permitted, our email service may use technology to estimate whether an email was opened.
Such information may help us understand whether subscribers are engaging with our content.
However, email open information is not always accurate.
Privacy features in email applications may:
- block tracking technologies;
- automatically download content;
- obscure device information; or
- otherwise produce inaccurate open statistics.
Africa.Luxury therefore does not treat an email-open indicator as definitive proof that a particular person actually read an email.
18. LINK CLICK INFORMATION
Where permitted, we may record that a subscriber clicked a link contained in an email.
This may allow us to understand:
- which articles are popular;
- which destinations interest readers;
- which offers receive engagement;
- which email layouts perform well;
- which content should be improved; and
- whether an email campaign is useful to subscribers.
19. USE OF ENGAGEMENT INFORMATION
Email engagement information may be used for purposes such as:
- improving newsletters;
- identifying popular content;
- reducing irrelevant messages;
- improving subject lines;
- evaluating campaign performance;
- determining suitable sending frequency;
- improving email deliverability;
- understanding general subscriber interests;
- maintaining mailing-list quality; and
- detecting technical problems.
Where possible and appropriate, we may analyse engagement information in aggregate.
PART VI — FREQUENCY OF EMAILS
20. HOW OFTEN WE MAY SEND EMAILS
Africa.Luxury does not guarantee a fixed number of newsletters unless a particular subscription specifically states a frequency.
The frequency of communications may vary depending on:
- the amount of relevant news;
- important travel developments;
- promotional periods;
- new articles;
- seasonal events;
- service launches;
- special offers;
- destination developments; and
- subscriber preferences.
Subscribers may therefore receive emails more frequently during periods of significant travel news or major Africa.Luxury campaigns.
21. AVOIDING UNREASONABLE EMAIL VOLUME
Africa.Luxury intends to communicate responsibly.
We aim to avoid sending unnecessary or excessive email communications.
Where feasible, we may use:
- mailing schedules;
- campaign controls;
- segmentation;
- subscriber preferences;
- sending limits; and
- editorial planning
to maintain an appropriate communication frequency.
PART VII — PERSONALISATION AND SEGMENTATION
22. CONTENT PREFERENCES
Where our systems support preference management, subscribers may be able to choose topics that interest them.
Examples may include:
- Ghana travel;
- destinations;
- stays;
- luxury accommodation;
- car rentals;
- experiences;
- tours;
- aviation;
- travel deals;
- events;
- food and culture; or
- general travel news.
23. SEGMENTATION
Africa.Luxury may organise its mailing list into groups based on relevant information such as:
- subscription source;
- content interests;
- country or general region;
- engagement with particular categories;
- previous interactions;
- subscriber preferences; or
- campaign participation.
Segmentation helps us reduce irrelevant communication and provide more useful content.
24. PERSONALISATION
Where appropriate, newsletters may be personalised based on information voluntarily supplied by the subscriber or reasonably inferred from the subscriber’s interactions.
Personalisation may include:
- using a subscriber’s name;
- recommending relevant Newsroom articles;
- highlighting particular destinations;
- presenting relevant Africa.Luxury services; or
- sending offers relating to categories in which the subscriber has shown interest.
We do not intend to use newsletter activity to make decisions that produce serious legal or similarly significant effects on subscribers.
PART VIII — UNSUBSCRIBING
25. RIGHT TO UNSUBSCRIBE
Subscribers may stop receiving applicable newsletter or marketing communications.
Africa.Luxury recognises that a person who has previously agreed to receive direct marketing may later change that decision.
A subscriber does not need to remain subscribed indefinitely simply because they previously consented.
26. UNSUBSCRIBE LINK
Where available, Africa.Luxury marketing and Newsroom emails will provide an unsubscribe mechanism.
A subscriber may follow the unsubscribe instructions contained in the email.
27. UNSUBSCRIBING BY CONTACTING US
A subscriber may also request removal from the Newsroom mailing list by contacting:
Email: experience@news.africa.luxury
Telephone: +233 55 791 4910
When making a request by email, subscribers should preferably write from the email address they want removed or clearly identify that address.
28. PROCESSING AN UNSUBSCRIBE REQUEST
After an unsubscribe request has been successfully processed, Africa.Luxury will take reasonable steps to stop applicable marketing or newsletter communications to that address.
Some system processing may take a short period to complete.
An email that was already technically queued for dispatch before the unsubscribe request was processed may occasionally still arrive.
29. SUPPRESSION RECORDS
After an email address is unsubscribed, Africa.Luxury may retain a limited suppression record.
A suppression record is maintained so that:
- we know the address has unsubscribed;
- the address is not inadvertently added back to the same mailing list;
- we can demonstrate that an unsubscribe request was honoured; and
- we can protect our systems from accidental reactivation.
Maintaining a suppression record does not mean we will continue sending marketing emails to the unsubscribed address.
30. RE-SUBSCRIBING
A person who previously unsubscribed may choose to subscribe again.
Where this occurs, we may require the person to complete a new subscription or confirmation process.
A new valid subscription may replace the previous suppression status for the particular communications the person has chosen to receive.
PART IX — COMMUNICATIONS THAT MAY CONTINUE AFTER UNSUBSCRIBING
31. MARKETING VERSUS SERVICE COMMUNICATIONS
Unsubscribing from the Africa.Luxury Newsroom mailing list ordinarily stops applicable newsletter and promotional communications.
However, unsubscribing from marketing does not necessarily prevent Africa.Luxury from sending communications that are required for a separate service or transaction.
For example, if you separately make an Africa.Luxury booking, we may still need to send:
- booking confirmations;
- payment communications;
- arrival information;
- service updates;
- security notifications;
- cancellation information;
- responses to enquiries; or
- other transactional communications necessary to provide that service.
These are not necessarily Newsroom marketing emails.
32. LEGAL AND SECURITY COMMUNICATIONS
Where necessary, Africa.Luxury may also communicate with an individual concerning:
- a privacy request;
- a security issue;
- suspected fraud;
- a legal matter;
- a complaint;
- an account or service request; or
- another matter that requires a direct response.
Such communications may continue even if the person has opted out of Newsroom marketing.
PART X — BOUNCES, INVALID ADDRESSES AND INACTIVE SUBSCRIBERS
33. BOUNCED EMAILS
An email may bounce where:
- an email address does not exist;
- a mailbox is full;
- a server rejects the message;
- a domain is unavailable;
- a spam filter blocks delivery; or
- another delivery problem occurs.
Africa.Luxury may automatically or manually suppress email addresses that repeatedly or permanently reject messages.
34. INVALID ADDRESSES
We may remove addresses that appear to be:
- incorrectly formatted;
- fake;
- malicious;
- abandoned;
- permanently undeliverable; or
- otherwise unsuitable for continued mailing.
35. INACTIVE SUBSCRIBERS
Africa.Luxury may periodically review subscribers who have shown no measurable engagement for an extended period.
We may:
- reduce communication frequency;
- send a re-engagement email;
- ask the subscriber to confirm continued interest;
- pause emails; or
- remove the address from active campaigns.
This helps maintain a healthy mailing list and reduce unnecessary communications.
PART XI — SPAM PREVENTION AND EMAIL AUTHENTICATION
36. OUR ANTI-SPAM APPROACH
Africa.Luxury does not intend to operate the Newsroom newsletter as an unsolicited mass-emailing service.
We aim to maintain mailing practices designed to:
- respect subscriber choices;
- maintain accurate mailing lists;
- provide unsubscribe options;
- reduce invalid addresses;
- monitor delivery problems;
- manage spam complaints; and
- protect the reputation of our sending systems.
37. EMAIL AUTHENTICATION
Africa.Luxury may use technical email authentication and domain-protection mechanisms where appropriate.
These may include technologies intended to:
- authenticate legitimate sending systems;
- reduce email spoofing;
- improve message integrity;
- improve deliverability; and
- help email providers distinguish authorised communications from fraudulent messages.
The availability and configuration of particular technologies may change as our email infrastructure develops.
38. PHISHING AND FRAUDULENT EMAILS
Fraudsters may attempt to impersonate legitimate organisations.
Subscribers should be cautious of messages that:
- request passwords;
- request payment-card PINs;
- ask for online banking credentials;
- contain suspicious attachments;
- demand unexpected urgent payments;
- direct users to unusual websites; or
- otherwise appear inconsistent with normal Africa.Luxury communications.
Africa.Luxury will not ask subscribers to provide account passwords or banking credentials simply to remain subscribed to the Newsroom.
If you are uncertain whether an email is genuinely from Africa.Luxury, contact:
experience@news.africa.luxury
+233 55 791 4910
PART XII — SPAM COMPLAINTS
39. REPORTING UNWANTED EMAIL
If you believe you received a Newsroom email without properly subscribing, contact us.
Please provide the email address that received the communication and, where possible, identify the email concerned.
We will review the matter and take reasonable corrective action where appropriate.
40. EMAILS MARKED AS SPAM
Where an email provider informs us that a subscriber has marked our communications as spam, Africa.Luxury may:
- suppress the email address;
- stop future marketing;
- investigate the subscription source;
- adjust our mailing practices; or
- take other appropriate action.
PART XIII — SHARING SUBSCRIBER INFORMATION
41. WE DO NOT SELL THE NEWSROOM MAILING LIST
Africa.Luxury does not sell its Newsroom subscriber mailing list as a commercial database of email addresses.
Subscriber information may, however, be processed by authorised service providers that assist us with the operation of our newsletter.
42. EMAIL SERVICE PROVIDERS
Africa.Luxury may use email delivery, hosting, cloud, analytics, security, or related technology providers.
Such providers may process subscriber information as necessary to provide services such as:
- storing mailing lists;
- sending emails;
- handling unsubscribe requests;
- processing bounced emails;
- recording delivery information;
- protecting against spam;
- providing analytics;
- protecting systems; and
- maintaining infrastructure.
43. SERVICE PROVIDER ACCESS
Service providers should only require access to information relevant to their functions.
Africa.Luxury seeks to use service providers and arrangements appropriate to the nature of the information processed.
Some providers may operate outside Ghana.
PART XIV — INTERNATIONAL PROCESSING
44. INTERNATIONAL EMAIL INFRASTRUCTURE
Email is an international technology.
Even where a subscriber and Africa.Luxury are located in Ghana, a message may pass through or be processed by servers located in other countries.
Our hosting, email, analytics, security, and cloud providers may also operate internationally.
Subscriber information may therefore be processed outside Ghana where necessary to provide our digital services.
45. SAFEGUARDS
Where personal information is processed internationally, Africa.Luxury seeks to handle those arrangements consistently with applicable data protection requirements and to use appropriate service providers and safeguards.
PART XV — DATA SECURITY
46. PROTECTING THE SUBSCRIBER DATABASE
Africa.Luxury takes reasonable steps designed to protect subscriber information against:
- unauthorised access;
- loss;
- misuse;
- disclosure;
- alteration;
- theft;
- destruction; and
- inappropriate processing.
Depending on the system, measures may include:
- access restrictions;
- authentication;
- password controls;
- encrypted connections;
- server security;
- software updates;
- monitoring;
- backups;
- administrative controls; and
- limits on employee or service-provider access.
47. NO ABSOLUTE SECURITY GUARANTEE
No email system, database, website, or Internet transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Although we take reasonable precautions, Africa.Luxury cannot guarantee absolute security.
Subscribers should maintain the security of their own devices and email accounts.
PART XVI — DATA RETENTION
48. ACTIVE SUBSCRIPTIONS
We may retain subscriber information while the subscription remains active and for as long as reasonably necessary to operate the mailing programme.
49. UNSUBSCRIBED USERS
When a subscriber unsubscribes, we may retain limited information necessary to:
- record the opt-out;
- maintain a suppression list;
- resolve disputes;
- demonstrate compliance;
- prevent accidental re-subscription; and
- satisfy applicable legal requirements.
50. EMAIL ANALYTICS
Email delivery and engagement records may be retained for a reasonable period for:
- reporting;
- analytics;
- troubleshooting;
- security;
- campaign evaluation;
- compliance; and
- mailing-list management.
Where information is no longer reasonably required, it may be deleted, anonymised, aggregated, or otherwise securely disposed of.
PART XVII — SUBSCRIBER RIGHTS
51. ACCESS
Subject to applicable law, subscribers may request information regarding personal data Africa.Luxury holds about them.
52. CORRECTION
Subscribers may request correction of inaccurate personal information.
53. WITHDRAWAL OF CONSENT
Where processing is based on consent, a subscriber may withdraw that consent.
For newsletter and direct marketing communications, this can ordinarily be achieved by unsubscribing.
54. OBJECTION TO DIRECT MARKETING
A subscriber may request that Africa.Luxury stop using the subscriber’s information for direct marketing.
Africa.Luxury will take reasonable steps to honour valid requests consistent with applicable law.
55. DELETION
Where applicable, subscribers may request deletion of personal information.
Deletion rights are subject to legal and operational exceptions.
For example, Africa.Luxury may need to preserve a limited suppression record to ensure that an unsubscribe instruction remains effective.
56. COMPLAINTS
Subscribers may contact Africa.Luxury if they are dissatisfied with how their information has been used.
Email: experience@news.africa.luxury
Telephone: +233 55 791 4910
Individuals may also have rights to raise concerns with the appropriate data protection authority under applicable law.
PART XVIII — CHILDREN AND SUBSCRIPTIONS
57. CHILDREN’S EMAIL ADDRESSES
The Africa.Luxury Newsroom is a general travel and hospitality publication and is not specifically designed as a newsletter for young children.
We do not knowingly seek to create marketing profiles of children through the Newsroom subscription system.
Where we become aware that information concerning a child has been submitted in circumstances requiring parental or guardian involvement, we may take appropriate steps to remove or restrict the subscription.
Parents or legal guardians may contact:
PART XIX — PROMOTIONS AND COMPETITIONS
58. PROMOTIONAL SUBSCRIPTIONS
Some campaigns, competitions, giveaways, or special offers may provide an opportunity to subscribe to Africa.Luxury communications.
Where participation in a competition and subscription to marketing are separate choices, Africa.Luxury may distinguish those choices where required.
Specific promotional terms may also apply.
59. COMPETITION ENTRIES DO NOT AUTOMATICALLY OVERRIDE CHOICE
Providing an email address to participate in an activity does not automatically give Africa.Luxury unlimited permission to use the address for unrelated marketing where separate consent is required.
Africa.Luxury will seek to respect the purpose for which information was originally provided.
PART XX — FORWARDING AND SHARING EMAILS
60. SHARING OUR NEWSLETTER
Subscribers may generally forward an Africa.Luxury Newsroom email to friends, family, or colleagues for personal, non-commercial purposes.
However, a person who receives a forwarded newsletter does not automatically become an Africa.Luxury subscriber.
They must voluntarily subscribe themselves if they wish to receive future newsletters directly.
61. DO NOT USE OUR NEWSLETTER FOR SPAM
Africa.Luxury newsletters must not be used as a basis for:
- harvesting email addresses;
- mass unsolicited redistribution;
- impersonating Africa.Luxury;
- fraudulent campaigns;
- phishing;
- misleading promotions; or
- other unlawful activities.
PART XXI — INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY IN EMAIL CONTENT
62. OWNERSHIP
Newsletter content may include material protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property rights.
This may include:
- articles;
- photographs;
- graphics;
- designs;
- logos;
- branding;
- headlines;
- promotional materials;
- layouts; and
- original written content.
Unless otherwise stated, such rights belong to Africa.Luxury or the applicable rights holder.
63. PERSONAL SHARING
Subscribers may generally share links to publicly accessible Newsroom articles for personal and non-commercial purposes.
Subscription to the newsletter does not transfer ownership of Africa.Luxury intellectual property to the subscriber.
PART XXII — THIRD-PARTY LINKS
64. LINKS IN EMAILS
Africa.Luxury emails may contain links to:
- Africa.Luxury websites;
- booking pages;
- travel providers;
- tourism authorities;
- advertisers;
- hotels;
- airlines;
- attractions;
- partners;
- social media platforms; and
- other third-party websites.
Independent third-party sites may have their own terms and privacy practices.
Africa.Luxury does not control those policies merely because a link appears in our newsletter.
PART XXIII — ADVERTISING AND AFFILIATE CONTENT
65. EMAIL ADVERTISING
Africa.Luxury newsletters may include advertisements or promotional placements.
An advertisement may promote:
- Africa.Luxury services;
- travel partners;
- accommodation;
- tourism services;
- experiences;
- events;
- transportation; or
- other relevant products or services.
66. AFFILIATE LINKS
Some links may be commercially tracked or affiliate links.
Africa.Luxury may receive a commission, referral benefit, or other commercial consideration where a subscriber follows a qualifying link and completes a transaction.
Where appropriate, commercial relationships may be disclosed.
PART XXIV — EMAIL CONTENT ACCURACY
67. CHANGING TRAVEL INFORMATION
Travel information changes frequently.
An email may include information concerning:
- prices;
- availability;
- events;
- destinations;
- entry requirements;
- transportation;
- promotions; or
- travel services
that was accurate when the email was prepared but subsequently changed.
Subscribers should verify important information before relying on it for a booking or travel decision.
68. ERRORS
Africa.Luxury may issue corrections where an important newsletter error is identified.
Minor typographical or formatting errors may not necessarily result in a separate correction email.
PART XXV — CHANGES TO THE SUBSCRIPTION SERVICE
69. CHANGES TO EMAIL PROGRAMMES
Africa.Luxury may modify its newsletter programme over time.
Changes may include:
- new newsletter categories;
- different sending schedules;
- redesigned templates;
- new preference options;
- additional Newsroom topics;
- changes in technology;
- changes in email providers; or
- changes in promotional formats.
70. MATERIAL CHANGES
Where a change materially alters the purpose for which subscriber information is used and additional consent is required by applicable law, Africa.Luxury will seek appropriate consent before using the information for the materially different purpose.
PART XXVI — SUSPENSION OR TERMINATION OF THE NEWSLETTER
71. AFRICA.LUXURY MAY DISCONTINUE A NEWSLETTER
Africa.Luxury may suspend, replace, combine, rename, or discontinue a Newsroom newsletter or mailing programme.
If a mailing programme is discontinued, Africa.Luxury may stop sending the relevant communications.
Where subscriber information is no longer required, it may be deleted or retained only as reasonably necessary for legal, security, or suppression purposes.
PART XXVII — GHANA DATA PROTECTION
72. DATA PROTECTION ACT, 2012 (ACT 843)
Africa.Luxury intends to manage Newsroom subscriber information consistently with applicable data protection requirements in Ghana, including the principles of the Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843).
These include principles concerning:
- accountability;
- lawfulness of processing;
- specification of purpose;
- compatibility of further processing;
- quality of information;
- openness;
- security safeguards; and
- participation of individuals.
Ghana’s Data Protection Commission also recognises individuals’ rights concerning direct marketing, including the right to prevent their personal information from being processed for direct marketing purposes.
73. RESPONSIBLE DIRECT MARKETING
Africa.Luxury’s approach to direct email marketing is based on the following principles:
- we seek appropriate consent where required;
- we tell subscribers what they are signing up for;
- we maintain subscription records;
- we provide a way to opt out;
- we honour valid unsubscribe requests;
- we protect subscriber information;
- we avoid selling subscriber lists as commercial databases;
- we seek to limit communications to relevant purposes; and
- we provide a way for subscribers to contact us regarding their information.
